The Indigenous Round recognises and celebrates Indigenous players and culture within the Australian Football League (AFL). It has been running for 11 years now and this is the second time the round has celebrated since being named after Sir Doug Nicholls, a former prominent Australian Aboriginal from the Yorta Yorta people, a professional athlete, pastor and pioneering campaigner for reconciliation.
The event was held on Adelaide Oval on the 23rd of May. Pre-game entertainment included a performance by Karl Telfer and his Paitaya Dance Group. The performance was accompanied by smoke machines and a choreographed lighting display which included Aboriginal art and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flag being projected onto the football field.
Key personnel from Intract and several of our valued clients enjoyed the game from our corporate box. The match had the Adelaide Crows battle it out against the Freemantle Dockers with the Crows taking the win with 143 points to 43.
Intract were accompanied by: The Aboriginal Foundation SA, the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR), Defence SA, Santos Limited, Aurecon, WSP – Parsons Brinckerhoff and Indigenous Business Australia (IBA)
