Each year National Reconciliation Week celebrates and builds on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians. This year’s event ran from 27th May to 3rd June 2017 and was held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, attracting a record 1,650 people. Intract Australia was a proud sponsor of the event.
National Reconciliation Week is an initiative of Reconciliation Australia, an independent not-for-profit organisation.
The event was heightened with special anniversaries including the fiftieth anniversary of the 1967 Referendum and the twenty-fifth anniversary of the historic Mabo decision.
The theme this year was “Let’s Take the Next Steps”.
Intract staff were joined by key clients including the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR), Santos Limited, The Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) and Defence SA.
Whilst enjoying a beautiful breakfast, entertainment was presented including a poetry reading, singing and dancing and guest inclusive of guest speakers as well.
Intract was very proud to be a sponsor for this year’s event, and we hope to provide more sponsorship in the future.
