The Department of State Development (DSD) has partnered with The Smith Family to run the 2017 South Australian Indigenous Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Camp from Monday 23 October to Friday 27 October 2017.
The purpose of the camp was to expose up to 60 South Australian Aboriginal high school students from years 10, 11 and 12 to the many study and career pathways in STEM.
John Briggs joined the students on the last day of camp to appear as an inspirational guest speaker. John discussed with the students his background into the workforce and how he founded the company Intract Australia Pty Ltd.
He also discussed career pathways in which students can be placed within the company doing either work experience or as graduate engineers.
John Briggs, Ty Borlace – SAGE Automation, Shane Blogg – SA Water and Charlie Fearon – Iluka Resources Limited were all joined by the STEM Camp students
